Recycle???

******Recycling is one of the easiest ways for everyone to help conserve natural resources.******
When the thought process of recycling first hit me, I tried doing it all:Buying the right products, recycling what I thought could be....and I failed. Some of the products at the time, were so expensive, I just couldn't afford it. Plain and simple. I was living in a small apartment, and did not have room for recyclables. Soooo....the excitement of it quickly fizzled, and died.

IDEA #1: What can you do where you live?
There are so many ideas online of apartment living, that you could come up with a few ideas to help you recycle. If you live in a house. Sorry, no excuse. Just do it. Same thing applies for a house though. Look online, find a system that works for your household.
WHAT WE DO: We took a trip to the local recycling center and quickly realized you can take almost anything there to recycle!!!! You take all your stuff in, they help you put it into the different bins; almost any type of plastic, glass, paper (not just two or three types), Foam trays from meat, foam packing material...all sorts of stuff!
So, (because I have not fully utilized my Pintrest ideas yet) we just simply put a box by the trash can. When it fills up, we replace it with another box. When we get a decent amount we take it to the recycling center. Yes, everyone goes.

IDEA#2: Start small
Do not gather every possible idea and start it at once. Implement just a few ideas, once they are more of a habit, add something else to it!
WHAT WE DO: Made the kids be involved. Nothing "official" just, reminders of what can be recycled and why. They go to the center with us, they help with the garden and canning.
We, do the recycling (already explained). Upcycle a lot of stuff. Garden (cuts down on packaging)...and a  few more things. I did not start this stuff all at once.

IDEA#3: Start a garden
What? ME? Yes. You.
Pssst....you can do this (on a small scale) even in an apartment...look online for ideas of window gardens!
WHAT WE DO: We garden, freeze food, and also can it. I love canning. It always looked so hard, watching my dad do it. But it's not. Canning is so easy, and you can make the food according to any dietary needs of your house (like if someone is diabetic) One of my favorite things to can, is soups. When I make soup (chili, vegetable, ect)...just make more. Then can it. Instant meal on a busy day! Something else I first tried last year, was taco meat. I waited for a sale on meat, made a whole bunch of it up and canned it! Super easy meal if you're on the run!!!

Anywho...that was just a few ideas...this post is getting a little long. So, hope it helps!

To produce each week's Sunday newspapers, 500,000 trees must be cut down.

Turning of the tap while brushing your teeth in the morning and before bedtimes can save up to 8 gallons per day. This is a savings of 240 gallons per month.

Plastic can take up to 500 years to decompose.
